Built in 1937 by Mr. Sam Little, the Buena Vista occupies a beautiful waterfront location in Qualicum Beach, British Columbia. Purchased by the current owners, Rob & Claire Murphy in 1990, this little charmer has undergone extensive rennovations over the years.

Qualicum Beach is a remarkable little tourist town located on the east side of Vancouver Island. With six golf courses, nature trails, biking routes, and wildlife sanctuaries in close proximity, Buena Vista by the Sea Motel is optimally located for all your days trips and mid-island adventures.

Things to do in Qualicum Beach

The Milner Gardens is a sensuous delight. Old growth Douglas firs and cedars frame breathtaking views of the Strait of Georgia. The garden lawns slope gently to meet a precipitous bluff which plunges to the beach below. Beyond the strait, the Coast Range Mountains of the British Columbia mainland can be seen. To the north, Denman, Hornby, Lasqueti and Texada Islands are visible.

The Crystal clear water and Vancouver Islands coolest outdoor adventures makes Horne Lake an outdoor/lover's dream! Two beautiful parks offer a wide range of activities for all ages and abilities. Visit one of BC's top attractions & discover great caving, canoeing, camping and other great outdoor activites for families and adventurist travelors.

The The Old Country Market in Coombs is famous for our international foods, imported gifts, in store baked goods, and of course... ice cream. We also have a restaurant, a deli and fresh produce all under the roofs of our recently renovated market. If this isn't enough, when you have shown the family all there is to offer in the market...up the hill is our fabulous Cuckoo's Trattoria and Pizzeria in the Big Villa at the back, as well as our take-out style Mexican cantina "Taqueria".

Qualicum Beach Memorial Golf Club is a 9-hole course located between the sea and the town of Qualicum Beach with awe-inspiring views of the Georgia Strait and Mount Arrowsmith. Join us for the 27th Annual Brant Wildlife Festival March 13th to April 15th, 2017. This festival celebrates nature, particularly Brant geese as they rest on our beaches midway between their wintering areas and nesting grounds. The festival kicks off with a celebration including live music, a silent auction and nature photo display. Learn more about nature in a wildlife viewing tour or participate in an interesting outdoor event such as Brant in the Bay.

Guest Rooms

All of our rooms have undergone extensive renovation and provide a full kitchen, full bath and spectacular ocean views. Our upper suites (Denman, Georgia, Hornby, Lasqueti and Texada) include a private balcony with panoramic views, cool sea breezes and comfy chairs. The lower suites (Ballenas, Malaspina, and Winchelsea) allow for walks along the waterfront with sliding patio doors opening to our manicured lawn.

Choose from a bachelor, one bedroom or two bedroom suites. Unfortunately our accommodation is not suited for children.

Ballenas

"The Red Rooms"

This suite is a mirror image of our Winchelsea suite. It provides a full kitchen, comfortable lounge area and a crimson red accent wall. This suite has tasteful artwork throughout and an outdoor sitting area complete with dining table, chairs and sun umbrella.

Queen size bed, flat screen TV, red leather sofa, and overstuffed chairs complete the decor.

Denman

Beautifully restored to its original grand style. Separate full kitchen original 1940's doors and door frames sunken ceiling with curved walls. Large bathroom with a marble bath and shower, pedestal sink.

Denman has a gorgeous view from its sundeck, overlooking our gardens and beachfront decks. White leather furniture completes the sitting room area. Denman is a favorite of our many regular guests

Georgia

The term “magnificent” is used often to describe this beauty. It's 180 degree view is to die for! Full kitchen and bath with shower. Tastefully decorated and very private, loved by our honeymoon couples. One of the best ocean views in Qualicum Beach.

Hornby

Built in the same era as the Denman Suite, this suite is tastefully appointed, providing a spacious bedroom and a very comfy queen-sized pullout bed in a separate sitting area.

A large full kitchen separates these two sleeping areas. Sundeck with ocean and garden views make this suite a big favorite with long-term stays.

Lasqueti

A mirror image of our Texada suite, Lasqueti has a full kitchen with appliances, queen-size bed, comfy tub chairs, and flat screen TV. A french door separates the full kitchen from the living area. The bathroom is spacious with both bath and shower facilities.

Sun deck with dining table, chairs and sun umbrella provides privacy and amazing ocean views.

Malaspina

Ground level large beachfront suite. Full kitchen, spacious bath and shower facilities, separate bedroom with queen-size bed, and another queen-size bed in the lounge area. 8 foot sliding patio door leads to a private covered deck area with dining table and chairs.

Lower level parking is adjacent to this ground level suite. Malaspina is another favourite with long-term stay guests.

Texada

A mirror image of our Lasqueti suite, Texada has a full kitchen with appliances, queen-size bed, comfy tub chairs and flat screen TV. A french door separates the full kitchen from the living area. The bathroom is spacious with both bath and show facilities.

Sun deck with dining table, chairs and sun umbrella provides privacy and stunning ocean views.

Winchelsea

"The Red Rooms"

Dining in the Area

Just as Qualicum Beach is pleasantly casual and easygoing, so too are the 15 restaurants in the area. Most eateries are clustered in the downtown core but a few are walking distance from Buena Vista by the Sea. All are locally owned and operated in keeping with the town's independent spirit.
